This full color process is a cost effective hard binding alternative to the dust jacket and tailored to your book. Note, however, full color hard covers do not include flap or end sheet imprint/printing in standard pricing. Special end sheets can be ordered, but the most economical is white blank end sheets. All books are guaranteed for quality of workmanship and materials.
Side Sewing: Method of attaching signatures or individual pages together by sewing the entire text block, along the binding margin, in a single pass by machine. Meets library binding standard: ANSI/NISO/LIB Z39.78 To meet accepted standards, side sewn books must not be more than 3/8 inch thick and have less than 3/4" gutter (interior) margin. Less binding margin will lead to broken spines as the readers seek the knowledge on the interior of the pages. Side stitching employs a lock stitch. Gregath standards do not allow for rounded spines - we offer a flat-back spine standard. This is mainly due to economy as the rounding process is an extensive step. Please note that, though LBI standards do not endorse color lamination, this product meets or exceeds as many standards for quality, durable binding as we could find. Side sewing can also be used in our standard or deluxe bindings - up to 4" thick, upon request. We offer full color softbinding methods in a variety of types as well.
