Local company assists in preservation through publishing

The Gregath Publishing Company was founded in the early 1970’s by Anna Mae Cochrane Gregath and her mother, Dora Pearl Lockhart Cochrane.  It was born out of the frustration of experienced genealogists trying to publish their work in a quality manner without dedicating a large amount of time coordinating the various specialists involved.  After successfully publishing several works, fellow genealogists began seeking out their expertise and thus, Gregath Publishing Company began in Cullman, Alabama.

The Mid-West Division, situated in northeast Oklahoma, was established in the early 1980’s and began in-house print production.  The Eastern Division had, to that point, sub-contracted all actual production.  The Mid-West Division has continued to grow in scope, equipment and size, while maintaining its one-to-one family business philosophy. The Eastern Division formally closed January 26, 2001, making the Mid-West Division the only current Gregath Publishing Company office.

Generally, the largest part of Gregath Co. deals with printing and publishing.  This includes books, periodicals, newsletters, and magazines as well as other organization and family printing needs. Each employee is knowledgeable in genealogy and history, as well as printing and publishing.  While primarily printer/publishers, Gregath Co. continues to offer a wide variety of services and products to their clients, such as print on demand (POD), electronic book formats, genealogy and family history books and materials for sale, genealogical tours, professional speakers and classroom teachers, web design, as well as an annual genealogical event. The Gregath Publishing Company has always had a two-fold goal. The first is a commitment to all customers, to provide quality services and products at affordable rates. The second deals with book publishing specifically: To assist each client in any way possible to ensure his or her book is a success. Family members have been involved in genealogical research, writing and teaching for over 50 years. The company has enjoyed an affiliation with the publishing and printing industry for over 30 of those years. Four generations have been active in Gregath Co..  With two generations currently working in the business, a lot of “family” gets put into the books this company produces.
