With the "pack and go" feature, as well as the PowerPoint reader being free of charge, PowerPoint is becoming a way to have a true multi-media e-book experience. The MS Office user can do all of their own "manuscript preparation" without buying or learning new software. PowerPoint decks can be added to books, or sold on their own.

There are lots of elements that can be brought into and controlled in a PowerPoint Slide Deck, it can be a bit overwhelming. These books are also better suited viewing on larger screens. Each "book page" is an individual slide - what can show on a screen. Because of this, while the slide/page can be dynamic, it's a much smaller unit than even a printed typing sheet of paper.

PowerPoint is a great program to use for digital scrapbooks and family "advertising" as well!

A slide deck can be set up to self-run with or without sound and embedded video. Elements can be animated for entrances, exits, and emphasis on each slide; build your own theme, use one of theirs, or a combination; inserted elements can be further formatted with frames, etc.; transition from one slide to the next can be controlled; links outside the deck can be added; etc.
