Design Inspiration - cover design
///////////////////////////////

If there is no bleed on the cover layout, the layout size should exactly reflect the size of the book. For instance a 6x9" book with enough pages to require a 1" margin would produce a cover file of 13x9". The actual size of the published book would be slightly smaller because after the book is produced, it is trimmed top, bottom and binding margin to achieve a clean look.

Book Manufacturing Concepts - Hardcover: Color side sewn (generally under 250 pages)
///////////////////////////////

To meet accepted standards, side sewn books must not be more than 3/8 inch thick and have less than 3/4" gutter (interior) margin. Less binding margin will lead to broken spines as the readers seek the knowledge on the interior of the pages. Side stitching employs a lock stitch. Gregath standards do not allow for rounded spines - we offer a flat-back spine standard. This is mainly due to economy as the rounding process is an extensive step.

Please note that, though LBI standards do not endorse color lamination, this product meets or exceeds as many standards for quality, durable binding as we could find.

Marketing advice
///////////////////////////////

Never feel that you are not a representative of your work. Even best selling authors, and those who have sold all the rights to their work can negatively or positively effect their book's reputation and sales.
