Alternatives to adding material to your book in envelopes include adding photographs in "old-fashioned" picture corners. These are available in archival grade, but are harder for the unskilled to place in a book (4 small individual corners versus a single envelope enclosure).

Visit http://www.30thinfantry.org and click on roster for a great new resource. Not previously available, Frank W. towers and Jim West have compiled a comprehensive, all-inclusive World War II roster for the 40th Division. The combat records were destroyed in a 1973 fire. A living document, corrections or changes should be sent to Frank W. Towers. The above website contains lots of other great data.

American Writers today have no excuse for not being "online": This may sound harsh for those not there yet, but true. While many things can have a steep learning curve, basic usage of today's technology shouldn't be viewed as an insurmountable skill set. The rewards far outweigh the cost in time, patience, and added "utility bills". It is part of the cost of doing business in the 21st century. Don't want to invest in hardware of your own? Head somewhere with public access computers, such as a library or internet cafe, and ask for assistance. Whether you choose a free email account, or use social networking as the extent of your online empire, it is something that today's readers have come to expect from living authors.
