Sans Serif Type: See Font - Without serif.  Example: Arial. Though uncluttered, the lack of serif separates the letters and words for the reader  See Serif

Screen/Screening: (See Halftone). Also refers to shading a block of text - many times in boxes or set apart.  In black and white printing, screening or other elements (boxes, spacing, change of font type, clip art, etc.) may be used - sometimes one is more effective then the other.

So you've decided to publish electronically? Will your eBook be physical, such as a CD, DVD, or removable drive? If so, consider your target audience and if you will be mailing most of them when you choose both format, and packaging.

If mailing most eBooks on disc, an option for packaging would be a self mailing jewel case. Unless these are artisan, they will not be cost effective for small publishing's, but even 100 or more can be delivered in bulk to you already sealed in these cases - ready to address and add postage.

Computer aid!?!

If self publishing in electronic form: Consider over time not all new releases of software contain your favorite options. As new versions come along, consider retaining the old version of software that work the way you want them. This way, even if you switch between versions while working on a manuscript, your finished book may be closer to what you dreamed of then just working with the latest version. Don't forget if working with old versions to save compatible with these older versions when in newer software.
