Placement of Copyright Information

Copyright notice can be added any number of ways. There are three required elements, regardless of format:

From: Copyright Handbook, Second Ed., Donald F. Johnston, 1982.

When you have text that covers more space than you want in a manuscript, what can be done?
More advanced level space savers:
  • Alter line spacing (MS Word instructions follow):
  1. Double check what font size you are currently using (for use later).
  2. Highlight the text you want to "shrink".
  3. Click "format" from the pull down menus at the top.
  4. Choose "paragraph" from the list that expands - this will bring up a new dialog box.
  5. Verify you are on the "indents and spacing" tab - not the "line and page breaks" tab.

Back to basics: Consider buying a box of #10 envelopes. They fit inside a standard business envelope (#10) without folding. A folded SASE adds more thickness than a folded letter in a flat SASE. This sometimes causes envelopes to get caught in automated machinery. This is a good addition to your "tool box" for queries and SASE.

In a MS Word file, how do I tell where in the document my cursor is at?

In Microsoft word, look in the lower left - in the gray areas above the "start" button. While it won't be exact, you should see something like this: (pic in Emachine my pics)
(I added the red so you could see it easier)
Right above the "start" button it shows you what page your cursor is on (Page 1).
Moving right, it shows what section you are in. If all goes right, you should always be in section 1.
The third notation (working left to right) on that line shows you again what page your cursor is on, then a forward slash and the number of pages in the file. In this instance it is page 1 of 21 (1/21).
In the above example, you should see a dotted line 4 text lines from the bottom of the screen (above the red line). This demarks the page break in this type of page view.
