Whats It Mean? -
soft binding spotlight #2
///////////////////////////////
Self Cover: Publications that are softbound using a cover of the same material as the interior. Self covers may or may not be self-mailers.
Spine (backbone): Side of the book where all the pages are secured together to the binding - opposite the trim edge. It is the actual edge visible facing outward when a book sits on the shelf. Center or back of book - surface usually carries lettering (free on all hard bindings).
*Tail: The bottom edge of a leaf, board, or bound volume; that is, the surface on which a volume rests when shelved upright.
Text Block: The pages/leaves of a book after they have been bound together. A group of printed or written pages that may be or have been bound, excluding all paper to be added by the bookbinder such as the endpapers, etc.
Trim Edge (or Margin): The edge of the page (leaf) or a board opposite from but parallel to, its binding edge (i.e., opposite from its binding edge).
* denotes a term that Gregath Publishing doesn't normally use.

Design Inspiration -
General E-Book Advantages
///////////////////////////////
No book dust - fewer books can contribute to a healthier air quality and environment.
Most e-books can adjust in size of page to read. From font size (large print anyone?) to overall % of zoom - the book can tailor itself to the readers wishes.
If your e-book reader is portable, but not waterproof - don't leave the book at home: Place your reader inside a water-tight zip-closure bag and enjoy your e-book at the beach (or in the bath).

Book Manufacturing Concepts
///////////////////////////////
One of many ways to make your book unique is considering a slightly "off size". Many people are familiar with 6x9" and 8.5x11". However, lesser used sizes, like 7x10", or even 8x10" or 5.5x8.5" allow your book to stand out on a shelf without presenting storage problems.

Marketing advice
///////////////////////////////
Don't restrict your efforts to traditional print publications. Be sure to post your PR and news on your own web site, send it by email to interested individuals (with an invitation to forward it on), post to any social networking you are doing, etc. Other outlets to consider include:
