*Acid Free Books The use of this term varies from the logical definition of the individual words to a wide variety of standards - always have a company explain their definition. An acid free book depend on internal (book materials) and external factors (chemical processes, environment, etc.). See Also Archival webpage.

See Also Archival webpage. Having no acidity and no residual acid-producing chemicals. Below is a definition from "Preserving Family Keepsakes Do's and Don'ts", Ilene Chandler Miller, 1996:

Design Inspiration - color hard cover camera ready files
///////////////////////////////
We recommend that no part of your cover design ever start (or convert) to something below 300 dpi. If you've ever seen soft focus covers, or ones that looked like the were FAXed, it is generally because of low dpi in the layout process.
If you want to use a low resolution graphic, don't enlarge it at all, and be sue you are happy with a print out of the cover before submitting it. Some extremely large files (14x18", etc.) in low resolution, make very nice small format cover additions (4x8", etc.).

Computer aid!?!

Don't ever think that when selecting software that you will be choosing the last software you'll need in your life. Even standards such as Microsoft Word can make radical changes with different versions. While you can hold on to an older version for quite a while, eventually you'll probably be seduced by what the new versions are capable of. It's a good thing to be a life long learner!
