Our company prides itself in offering trips that bridge the gap between fully escorted and land/air only packages. Travel to Washington DC with an experienced group. This trip is no different, it includes staff that will be researching, sightseeing, and also attending the National Institute on Genealogical Research (NIGR). It is up to each traveler to decide to take advantage of this scheduling, or strike off on their own.

Research in the Library of Congress, National Archives (and/or NIGR), NSDAR Library (open to the public except for Monday) and more. We stay downtown where most of the city's best sightseeing is to be found as well as centrally located to all downtown research repositories. Take side trips to places like Mount Vernon and/or take advantage of the Metro for trips to the zoo and Alexandria (more research)! FYI - FCIC Washington DC Info |
"What to Wear": This shall, of course, be up to you based on your chosen activity and venue. Please note that temperatures are often in the 90's. Many air conditioning systems do too good of a job (Idea-sweater), while others may be barely adequate (Idea-hand fan). Additionally, while shorts and tank tops may be the best for outside sightseeing, it may not be the standard fair at research repositories. NIGR has a "dress code" listed in their registration confirmation packet. Click here for our tips on packing. Free films are shown at the National Theatre during summer months. Performances are at 6:30 pm on Monday evenings in the Helen Hayes Gallery, where the national portrait of Miss Hayes is displayed. Admission is free, on a first-come, first-seated basis. As usual, once a paid reservation has been made, our trips are non-refundable. This tour has been set with a total group number in mind. Because our company has staff that will be attending NIGR, there will be a group going. However, the prices may be different. If this tour doesn't fill:
your deposit can be returned to you
your deposit can be applied to the trip with different costs involved
your deposit can be applied to different trip(s) or merchandise offered through us
Due to the slightly more fluid nature of travel after 9/11, we recommend that if worried about further changes, you obtain your choice of trip insurance from an independent carrier.

National Archives I (closed Sundays and federal holidays): served by metro green & yellow - Archives/Navy Memorial station (700 Pennsylvania AVE NW) - Standard M-W 8:45-5, T-TH-F 8:45-9, S 8:45-4:45.
National Archives II (closed Sundays and federal holidays): 8601 Adelphi RD, College Park, MD - Standard M-W 8:45-5, T-TH-F 8:45-9, S 8:45-4:45.
*This is the "worst possible case" price for this tour as advertised. Note that the land/air package will cost up to $900.00 and no more (if available). The deposit of $400.00 will be made in May realizing this. Before the balance is due in June, we hope to "lock in" all elements and have a final price - hopefully less. If so, your balance due will be reduced. If for some reason we find a way to offer this tour as advertised with further cost cuts after balance is paid, a cash rebate will be given during your tour.
