Drop Ship: The seller of the product doesn't actually have the inventory. The order is forwarded to the author minus a sales commission. The author maintains all book inventory and controls shipment.

Simple artwork (map, coat of arms, etc.) or clip art (general books, children, calligraphy graphics, etc.) sometimes adds to any book. It also serves as great filler for white space that may appear at the bottom of a page or end of a chapter.
Artwork should be clear, dark (but not too dark -
don't choose a graphic that covers ½ the page in black ink). Depending on
your printer/publishers needs they should either be attached to the manuscript
or preferably sized for the
space in which it will appear. Should you possess an
artistic talent or have relatives or friends that do, you
may wish to include these.

It might be the author's desire to obtain a Library of Congress Card Catalog Number or a Copyright for your work. An ISBN may also be an option you wish to pursue. Library of Congress Card Catalog Numbers must be applied for and obtained before printing. The other two mentioned can be done at any time.

One can choose to have a press release, or do a press kit. A press kit can contain:
*a photo of the author, the book,
etc.
*a sheet about the book itself.
*a sheet about the author.
*a sheet about why the book is being published.
*a sheet about the publisher.
*a sheet about purchasing.
*a calendar of planned events important to the book such as signing party, etc.
*any other promotional material you can think of!

Basic research rule that is most commonly overlooked - no matter how much material you check, keep a record of what you have checked.
Basic research rule that is almost as most commonly overlooked - cite your sources. Make sure when you locate a document, reference, or listing that you take detailed information about not only what reference you were using, but where and when it was found.
Keep these rules in mind and your search may be a much more orderly and enjoyable experience :o)

Computer aid ?!? - Font Type
Microsoft Internet Explorer

Much of what you see online has the font pre-defined by the person who wrote the page. However, you might be surprised at the amount of text that is not. For text that a font hasn't been chosen, your program assigns and shows the default font. If you have a font you love to read and it is easy for you, or it shows up larger due to point size ratio, you may want to change the default font. How to:
click on the "tools" pull down menu then click on "(internet) options". The dialog box your get has many tabs at the top, if you are not looking at the "general" tab, click it. Near the bottom of this tab there is a row of buttons, click on the "fonts" button. Doing this brings up the fonts box. Select your favorite font in both lists, click OK, then OK and you've done it.

Note: All references to
