What's It Mean?
///////////////////////////////
Camera-Ready Digital Print Manuscript (CRDPM):/Camera-Ready Copy Machine Manuscript (CRCMM): Document feedable (no paste up, attachments, gummy labels, etc.), single sheets printed one side, all same size, with binding margin (if desired). Note: two sided manuscripts can sometimes create copy difficulties, therefore, we discourage such practices. Please note that all forms of reproduction will loose some clarity.
Camera Ready Disk: Computer disk that contains Camera Ready Manuscript to be printed.
Camera Ready (hard copy) Manuscript (mssc or CRM): Basically "what you see is what you get", printed on one side of the paper, it includes text, artwork, documents, and spaces for photos. Any blemishes, coffee stains, or copy machine "splatter" on the original will be on the final copy (finished books). Please note that all forms of reproduction from this manuscript will loose some clarity.

Design Inspiration - Indexing
(Continued)
///////////////////////////////
Traditional indexing meets the word processing program:
These simple directions were written with Microsoft Word in mind, but can be adapted to any word processing program.
Once the main text of the manuscript has been finalized, print it out. Sit down with the print out in front of a blank computer file. Read through page one and type anything from the page you'd like to include in the index (in index format), followed by a 1, then press enter/return, repeat this process until you're ready to do page two, repeat, etc. Remember, only one entry per line such as:
Silas, Mrs. 1
Tims, Frederick
Martin [sic] 1
River, Grand 1
Silas, Mr. Fred 2
River, Spring 2
etc.
Once you have repeated the steps above for the entire manuscript, highlight the entire text within the file, choose the "table" pull down menu and "sort" from that pull down. In the dialog box that pops up, be sure it is set to sort by paragraphs and the type is text, also it is ascending for an index - then click "OK". You can then go through the text to double check you don't have duplicate entries and produce your final format.
**There are several different ways to highlight. Since you need the full file highlighted one suggestion that you start with the cursor at the top of the file. Next, on the keyboard, hold down the control and shift keys while you press the end button.

Marketing advice
///////////////////////////////
For the author who has more than one book in print, if they wish to repackage their books into ready to mail, individual packages, the outside of each box should be marked with the title. This should be done the same way (red marker, white label, etc.) and placed in the same approximate place on the package (bottom/center, left on one end, below the return address, etc.) for easy reference. Please note that some carriers have restrictions on additional print. Currently, most are OK with markings as long as they are not distracting from the delivery information. USPS also recommends nothing be printed below the delivery address on the addressed side of the package.
