What's It Mean?

With a new year, it's a good time to start over and run the definitions A-Z. This doesn't mean that if new lingo comes to light before the review is over that we won't throw it in!
Absorbent Paper (see Paper): Covering a variety of papers made for absorbing water and inks (degrees vary). Examples: duplicating, filter, blotting and toweling papers.
*Acid Free Books (see Archival): The use of this term varies from the logical definition of the individual words to a wide variety of standards - always have a company explain their definition. An acid free book depend on internal (book materials) and external factors (chemical processes, environment, etc.). See Also Archival webpage.

Marketing advice

Seek book reviews. Many reviewers will want a free copy to keep or donate, while some will work from a loaned copy or alternate edition. One can easily hand out more review copies than you sell, but targeted reviews can be worth their weight in gold. One online resource: http://www.bookreviewblogs.com/ (not available on 12-15-12)

Some may feel this is logical, but our staff is surprised how many people don't do this: Be sure that you have at least one online presence dedicated to your book. This can be a traditional traditional web site, dedicated blog, or social networking account (profile, page, group, etc.). If you have more than one static presence, it is good to interconnect them.

Don't overlook the help pull down menu. Lots of people get so flustered looking for a magic button, they forget that most programs come with a little help built in and more if the computer is connected to the internet.
