Four (4)/Full Color Separation: Each of the colors that make "full color" are separated in preparation to print separately - these layers make up the full color printed item.  A color photograph is reproduced in the print media through this process.

Galley: A mock up of the books layouts. This layout doesn't usually have final illustrations, artwork, or photographs. Galleys are rarely included in basic prices.

QR (Quick Response) codes are Smartphone or tablet (with reader app) readable and may be used to enrich and/or ease customer/reader interaction and experience. Some QR functionality may be inaccessible if not on an active internet connection. This type of code was envisioned as open source, so there are wide varieties of free and nearly free services available online:  Start your search with the term QR code generator. Many sites that contain generators provide further free information from usage ideas to history and examples.

Use of variable data printing can further customize or personalize title pages. i. e. "Carolyn's history of Crowder", providing space on the page for the owners surnames included in the book or immediate family index listing, etc.

Special Postcard Design Note: Be careful in adding your name/address to a postcard design. As both sides of the mail piece are fully viewable and the only notice of which side is "up" is postage, do not place your name and address in a standard addressing format (3 lines roughly center of card) on either side of the card - unless you want the card returned to you. Because of the nature of mailed cards and automated sorting systems, cards may get "flipped" in the mail stream and returned to you: this acts as a return service, effectively "using" the postage to mail the card to yourself.
