Foil Embossing Considerations

Foil (film) that can be added to the embossing process. Without foil,  blind embossing is achieved. Foil embossing processes available include:

•  standard system stamping for basic, economical text

• special plate (die) for artwork or lots of variable text (point size or fonts)

Foil embossing can be quoted any one or a mix of the above processes to achieve the final goal.

For standard and deluxe covers, please realize when deciding on your imprint, your cover color should be considered. A black imprint may be considered bold on tan or orange, but will fade into the fabric if placed on navy or dark brown. Likewise, gold and silver can be a very subtle choice if choosing a light color fabric - highly visible at only certain angles as the light catches the imprint.

• No-charge foils, recommended for darker materials include flat white and shiny/metallic gold or silver.

The cost of those colors above are included in the binding or embossing price - as stipulated. More or multiple colors, different finishes (like dull metallic or glossy), special effects (holographic, brushed, or pearl, etc.) are available at further expense.

These photographs were taken of the same custom die embossing placed on blue and brown print material. Each photo, though taken with different lighting conditions and angles, is of the same two cover swatches.

System Stamping
White Ink or Gold Foil

Limited text stamping (by computer) - is included in all fabric, standard, hard cover, binding quotations. This option offers little or no specification beyond actual text and is not unlimited in quantity. Excessive cover text will be charged by the line/character. For deluxe covers additional system stamping is included at no extra charge. Large or special fonts are not available in system stamping.
