Hardbinding: "Imitation" Leather

Sturdite imitation leather has a 100% cotton woven base for strength with a durable acrylic coating applied before the leather texture/finish is embossed for added durability an water resistance. Alternately, with prints, the smooth finish gives the optical illusion of leather without the stamping draw-backs. This washable top coat brings the beauty and texture of leather to your book without the cost or wear difficulties true leather may have.  This high quality coated cloth is strong while being versatile with a rich appearance.

Due to the composition, bonded leather (Taratan II, Kensingon and Eurobond) is considered imitation. Composed of genuine cowhide leather and man made substances it is an economical solution to leather binding on a budget. While not as strong or durable as other man made options, it retains much of the look, feel and smell of leather.

This specialty material can be utilized as a fairly economical upgrade in elegance. A great "coffee table book" cover, it even retains much of the unique smell of leather. This material averages an up-charge of $5.00 per book in small quantities - if the color selected is in stock.

Note: Some embossed cover material, found in "textures", may not take large areas of foil, such as heavy or bold lettering or solid artwork well: Peeling may occur on heavily embossed textures.
