Due to the terms of service with R. R. Bowker, no work published elsewhere can carry any ISBN already designated for Gregath.
A Gregath Company, Inc. ISBN can be used for any publication through Gregath for the author/copyright holder. The flat fee* for this add-on publishing service is $20.00. In addition to this flat usage/filing fee, the book must contain the elements the ISBN agency requires. This may also add further costs to publishing, depending on the project. To utilize this flat fee service, the client understands:
Have a correctly completed ISBN Advertising Release on file, at Gregath, before published book delivery.
Assigned ISBN to be printed inside the book, near the Copyright information.
Assigned ISBN to be added to the bottom of the back cover for hard copy books.
The most frequently noted limitation with Gregath ISBN is the ISBN/book is listed out of print if it is published elsewhere, as a Gregath ISBN can not be used with another printer or publisher (author owned ISBN may be printed anywhere, as long as the design and format are consistent).
*This fee is included with any Smashwords electronic editions. Fee will be waived for traditional publishing of at least 100 books, upon request.
Anyone may procure their own ISBN, but many are hesitant to learn another new process. However printing camera ready ISBN information carries no additional charge. Gregath offers assistance in many ways for those who wish:
If ISBN has already been acquired, Gregath can take the publication, ISBN and user information and handle all the data entry for books-in-print as well as keeping up your ISBN registration. Services start at $20.00 per single ISBN. If several need to be done at the same time, straight time can be utilized at $20.00/hour.
These services are offered without the requirement that the ISBN be listed for sale in the Gregath catalog. However, if it is genealogy or history, we highly suggest taking advantage of this free service - use the ISBN contract. Gregath can also help acquire ISBN.
Looking for a barcode provider for ISBNs?
Gregath can produce barcodes for your book! The flat rate fee for barcode production is $20.00 (13 digit). The barcode can be ISBN only, or contain price with the optional EAN5 (retail price code). This service can be provided as part of a publishing or binding-only package. At additional cost, labels can be produced to be placed on current publications using data provided by the customer.
