Nancy Calhoun
Muskogee, Oklahoma Nancy Calhoun works at Muskogee Public Library as head of the Genealogy and Local History Department since 2007. She previously worked at a city and a university library and was in journalism and printing for many years. A genealogist for 40 years, she has attended several national conferences of National Genealogical Society and Federation of Genealogical Societies and has won awards in genealogical writing competitions and for her photography work. Her personal research is in Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, and southwest Virginia. She is a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, United Daughters of the War of 1812, plus national, state, and local genealogical and historical societies. Her education includes a Bachelor or Arts in History and English, a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Home Economics with a minor in Photography; and a Master of Science Additional. A few of her passions include sewing, embroidery, baking, vocal music, and mountain dulcimer. SessionsSaturday, 8:45-9:45 AM Genealogy educational opportunities are as close as your own home computer. Paid for classes and free information is becoming more popular for the genealogy crowd. Information on a specific topic, a one time class, and even an entire conference are now available without leaving your home. Explore the intricacies of this valuable resource now available to the genealogy world, thanks to the DAR, a long time leader in preserving genealogy and history. A member of the Lawton DAR, the presenter recently established another ancestor as a patriot.
