Sherrell has been doing family research since 1964. She is Co-administrator of the Randolph Family website, Editor of Frontier Researchers Genealogy Society, Fort Smith, Arkansas journal of "Frontier Research", is Coordinator of the Randolph Family DNA Surname Project in association with FamilytreeDNA.com. In the past, she has also held past offices in the above society, been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, First Families of Oklahoma, First Families of Tennessee, and Westerner's International (a group that does "living history"). Additionally, Sherrell volunteers at the Ft. Smith National Historic Site and the Genealogy Department of the Ft. Smith Public Library. She has conducted various genealogy lectures for groups and organizations both locally/regionally and in other states. Helping share information through publishing, she was a coordinator for the book, William Randolph of Post Oak Springs, 2004. Additionally, she has contributed several articles for various heritage books in Tennessee and Virginia.
