Although we have the
capabilities to print by almost any method, we offer quality
digital and offset printing from camera ready
manuscript (hard copy, from the cloud, or on disk), as it is the
most cost-effective approach to a permanent ink printed
book presentation, based on most current self-publishing project sizes.
If you prefer a different method (letterpress, etc.), please contact us. Due to set-up costs, we
generally limit our economically smallest
offset run
to 100 books.

books.
Offset printing of your book is done by press operators with an outstanding eye for detail. Books are not run on huge presses that do so many pages at a time that the press operator cannot oversee quality. Our offset presses run from one to four pages at a time.
We obtain our paper through some of the finest paper suppliers and companies in the country. It is our pleasure to be able to offer a large selection of colors, textures and weights of stock, as well as a selection of 36 standard and numerous custom ink colors, to our customers.
Our standard, offset printing, quotation basis is for the 8½x11 inch format, printed in black ink from consecutively numbered camera ready copy, on #50 smooth finish, buffered, white, acid free paper. This has proven through the years the best choice for most genealogical and family history book projects. This paper choice allows for very nice offset reproduction while at the same time being the most cost effective for customers. Generally, the incremental changes paper weight, finish and/or brightness make to a project are far outstripped by the cost changes when planning a book project. Should you desire a different size book or color and/or paper specifications, Gregath will be happy to provide a free quote on alternate book presentation choices.
We usually recommend the use of a typeset title page for all books, as it adds to the pleasing appearance of any book. A title page may contain a photo or artwork, if you wish. With the rise of digital typesetting, we have more customers who specify the use of their own title page, which can lead to more creativity and author control.
It might be the author's desire to obtain a Library of Congress Card Catalog Number or a Copyright for your work. An ISBN may also be an option you wish to pursue.
You may do this yourself or we will be happy to do it for you. Pre-assigned Library of Congress Card Catalog Numbers must be applied for and obtained before printing. The other two items (above) can be applied for and attached at any time.
Maps, documents, artwork, clip art, newspaper articles, etc., may be incorporated into your book at no additional charge, unless the item requires special handling. Almost anything requiring special handling can be negotiated. The staff loves to help authors achieve success with their unique book projects.
