Who's Your Daddy?
Other Works:
See Below

Written with a touch of humor and serendipity, Who’s Your Daddy? took thirty years of research. You will find 240 pages fully indexed, including a full Bibliography, a summary at the end of each chapter, a book synopsis, plus more than 80 illustrations and over 30 true stories.

These true life adventure examples of genealogy in action will help you put flesh on the bones of your long-lost ancestors -- to write the stories of your family, to write your own memoir, and then will show you the best ways to get your work published. It is all here.

Most burial grounds contain artistic examples of “cemetery iconology” portraying what was important to the person buried there. Who’s Your Daddy? contains keys to the meaning of many icons. For example, a handshake symbol signifies a welcome into the heavenly world. Or if one hand is feminine and other other masculine, it could indicate the eternal love of a spouse. The weeping willow or a draped vase demonstrates the grief that accompanied the loss of this person. Different acronyms and icons signal you to look for more information about the lifestyle of the person.

Other books by the same author at the festival will include:

Family Stories: An Anthology (website): Twenty-five stories by award-winning writers  will show you just how easy it is to start finding your family’s place in history -- and keep it there by getting it published.

Published by SAGEst Press under the Buffalo Industries imprint - ISBN:  978-1-883852-07-2

FAMILY STORIES contains a collection of 25 family history stories by winning authors. The 206-page booklet includes titles like “The Captain’s Troublesome Catch” by author M. Carolyn Steele, the entertaining tale of a riverboat captain’s romance and life in early Alaska territory.

Joan O’Neill wrote “Would I like to Go to Heaven?” about a young German boy’s dream of life in America.  Donna Eades story, "They Became Refugees," reveals little-known details about southern families forced to become Confederate refugees during the Civil War.

Tammy Hinton writes of marriage customs and life in early Oklahoma and Indian Territories; Donna Merry told about an amazing Cherokee woman known simply as “Pokey,” who held her family together in spite of enormous tragedy in "Saga of the Wassoms."

Mallory Harvey records the frustrating everyday life of a doctor’s family living in the Chickasaw and Choctaw nations of Indian Territory. Martin Blazy solved the mystery of an ancestor raised in a New York orphanage and discovered an unknown cousin in "Finding Richard."

These are just a few of the great true stories in this fully-indexed book.

Oklahoma Books and Authors Showcase 2010

Carolyn B. Leonard, granddaughter of Oklahoma homesteaders, former rural newspaper editor, winner of many journalistic contests, published in local, state and national publications, contributed to the best-seller “In Their Name,” a state-endorsed book on the Murrah Federal Building bombing in Oklahoma City.  She remains a commissioned writer for Persimmon Hill, the award-winning magazine of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum and is author of the newly released non-fiction book, Who’s Your Daddy?

Leonard’s historical novel & several non-fiction manuscripts have claimed awards in state and national competition, but remain incomplete. She plans to finish them all this year (every year), but her hobbies of flower gardening, photography, genealogy, travel, computer networking, writer meetings, friends, family and grandchildren habitually interfere – and not necessarily in that order. She finally finished one in 2009 and has been amazed how many people want to buy it.

Leonard lives in Oklahoma City with her retired engineer hubby, Jon Heavener, and their pampered Boston Terrier, Shiloh. Leonard still operates the wheat farm in far northwestern Oklahoma where she grew up.
