(Non-Fiction: History)
 230 pages - $36.00 (hardcover)

Steve Warren's debut book is a large format, 8.5x11" volume and includes photographs, maps, appendices and index, ISBN 978-0-944619-66-7.  It also features the partial war diary of Richard M. A recognized authority on the Civil War battles at Cabin Creek, Warren has made presentations to historical and genealogical groups throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and throughout the Nation.  Warren is working on a screenplay about the Cabin Creek battle and recently was awarded the Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medal for his work in this area through the Cowskin Prairie Chapter of the UDC.  This is his first book, but it’s not his first project on the Civil War in Indian Territory.  In 1992, Warren and Rick Harding of Bartlesville, Oklahoma released the 90-minute television documentary "Last Raid at Cabin Creek," which Warren wrote and co-produced.  Video of the program has been sold to libraries across the country.  This work has also been successful in the home video market.  The documentary has won numerous awards, including recognition from the state of Oklahoma.  The program was added to the collection of the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum of American History in 1998.

Multiple titles
(Non Fiction: History)

While being the speaker at the Gregath Genealogy Workshop, the author will be available during lunch and the last hour of the Showcase.

Books featured at this Showcase:

Oklahoma City Rediscovered: Book includes 202 photographs from 1898 to present of the following areas that surround Oklahoma City: Automobile Alley (North Broadway), Bricktown, Capitol Hill (South OKC) and Deep Deuce the Black section of town that gave rise to the jazz music scene in the 1930s-1950s. 128 pages. Oklahoma City has a fascinating history. By 1907, when Oklahoma became a state, the diversity of business, entertainment, industry, manufacturing, and transportation was experiencing rapid development. Contained within Oklahoma City Rediscovered is the story of four aspects of that development: Deep Deuce with the rise of blues and jazz music, town site development with the goal of establishing a seat of government with the founding of Capitol Hill, manufacturing that led to the warehouse district that evolved into the premier entertainment area known as Bricktown, and transportation with the love affair of the automobile along a major thoroughfare downtown that was devoted to showcasing the latest models of cars to capture the fancy of the public.

Early Visitors to Oklahoma: by William D. Welge and Bob Burke: Short sketches of those men and women who explored and in some cases settled Oklahoma from Coronado to Mary Semple Hotchkin to William L. Couch.

Carl Jacobs Mysteries
(Mystery)
softcover

Friends, And Other Perishables - Order Page: "...a thrill-packed novel grabs you in the first paragraph and never lets you go. An outstanding Debut" - William Bernhardt, author of the best-selling Ben Kincaid series

Carl Jacobs, a private investigator, agrees to meet an informant, Jimmy "The Blue Jay" a man Carl grew up with. Jimmy has been a guest in Carl's house, and is considered almost a member of the family by Carl's wife, Sherry, and their two young daughters. But apparently Jimmy has other friends.

As soon as Carl arrives, Jimmy starts shooting at him from a dark alley. Carl is wounded but returns fire, and Jimmy is killed. Now Carl has to find out why Jimmy tried to murder him. The solution to this puzzle becomes even more urgent when subsequent attempts are made on Carl's life.

The answer he seeks lies somewhere within the maze of a multi-million-dollar insurance fraud scheme perpetrated by an attorney and a chiropractor, and a lot of very greedy "accident victims." Some people prove ruthless when millions of dollars are at stake. And some men can be even more ruthless when their families are threatened.

Friends, and Other Perishables is an excellent variant on the private-eye genre, featuring a man who is both a dedicated detective and a loving family man capable of defending those he loves when there is no other choice.

Other books by the same author include:

Friends On Fire: "Whisman spins a good story and has created a likeable, credible hero and a supporting cast with good depth and a promise of staying power that bodes well for future appearances." - Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine

A Witch Among Friends: "Dale Whisman has done it again - a crisp whodunit composed with wry wit and a strong sense of detail, filled with vibrant believable characters in an unusual and exciting plot. He is my pick for mystery writer of the year" - Charles W. Sasser, author of Homicide and Detachment Delta series
